CAPAJA Judicial Appointments Committee

Sacramento%2C-California---State-Capitol_(cropped)_edited.jpg

CAPAJA has a process through which an applicant seeking appointment by the Governor to the position of Judge of a Superior Court may request CAPAJA’s organizational support of their candidacy.  The CAPAJA Judicial Appointments Committee, led by its Northern and Southern California Co-Chairs (Hon. Richard Sueyoshi and Hon. Lee Tsao), is tasked with receiving endorsement requests from applicants, conducting a confidential vetting of each applicant, and making a recommendation to the CAPAJA Executive Board regarding whether CAPAJA should proceed with an endorsement.  In its discretion, the CAPAJA Executive Board may decide whether or not to support an applicant’s candidacy.  In those instances where the CAPAJA Executive Board decides to support an applicant’s candidacy, CAPAJA provides a letter in support of the applicant to the Governor’s Judicial Appointments Secretary.  For more information, please view CAPAJA’S Judicial Endorsement Process
