CAPAJA at a Glance

The California Asian Pacific American Judges Association includes over 250 current and retired federal and state judicial officers.  CAPAJA works to increase equal access to justice, to promote diversity and inclusivity in the legal profession and the judiciary, and to support judicial officers, especially Asian Pacific Americans, in achieving excellence and becoming leaders in our courts and communities.

Activities

Judicial Appointments Committee

CAPAJA has a process through which an applicant seeking appointment by the Governor to the position of Judge of a Superior Court may request CAPAJA’s organizational support of their candidacy.  The CAPAJA Judicial Appointments Committee, led by its Northern and Southern California Co-Chairs, is tasked with receiving endorsement requests from applicants, conducting a confidential vetting of each applicant, and making a recommendation to the CAPAJA Executive Board regarding whether CAPAJA should proceed with an endorsement.
