 Why Join CAPAJA?

​

CAPAJA is a California not-for-profit membership association and an affiliate of the California Judges Association (CJA).  Our purposes include improving the administration of justice, considering matters concerning the judiciary and Asian Pacific American communities, and promoting diversity on the bench.  In the last three years, our Judicial Appointments Committee has vetted and endorsed many outstanding API candidates who were subsequently appointed by Governors Brown or Newsom to the superior court bench, and we are continuing this program through the current COVID-19 crisis, as Governor Newsom continues to make appointments.  In January 2020, our board spoke out in support of a recently-appointed Superior Court judge who was apparently targeted for a potential election challenge based on his Sikh ancestry and surname.  We have co-sponsored events celebrating and supporting Asian Pacific Judges, as well as coordinated dinners in Northern California, Southern California and at Judges’ College, in order to provide important networking opportunities.

Your annual membership dues of just $50.00 supports all of these important efforts, as well as provides support for the CAPAJA Annual Scholarship.  Lifetime memberships are available for $500.
